Yakima Valley Libraries
Yakima, Washington
The Blue Q is available and in circulation at the West Valley Community Library in Yakima, WA.
As the second largest county in the state of Washington, the Yakima Valley libraries circulate hundreds of thousands of items across a network of one central library and 15 community libraries spread across Yakima County. With a growing percentage of diverse cultures flowing into the area, Yakima Valley quickly became of great interest to us as we looked for a place to call home in the far northwest corner of the continental United States.
We are supremely excited to have discovered the fertile grounds of the Yakima Valley, best known for their apple orchards and wineries. The natural splendor of the Valley, which is a short distance from Mount Rainier, encompasses everything from a state park and extensive river to an agricultural museum and a popular arboretum. As such, this is the perfect place in the state of Washington for The Blue Q to feel right at home.

- For what ages is this book appropriate?
The Blue Q was purposely written to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. This book is intended for young adults, and we primarily recommend it for readers age 12 and up.

- How does the book’s availability at the Yakima Valley Libraries help the Mission of The Blue Q?
The motto of this extensive network of libraries is written directly on its logo: connecting people and ideas. These four simple words were the first impression we had of Yakima Valley, and we have not been anything less than impressed ever since. From a region that boasts both its natural wonders as well as its agriculture, the people of Yakima Valley know the importance of the delicate natural balance. Global climate change can have long-lasting and catastrophic impacts on areas such as Yakima Valley, and because of this, the Mission of The Blue Q ties in perfectly with the natural priorities of sustainability and ecological diversity. Together, we truly are stronger, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be among a culturally rich community that embraces such values.
