Nobles County Library
Worthington, Minnesota
The Blue Q is available and in circulation at the Worthington branch Library of the Nobles County Library.
It proved to be almost impossible to further delay The Blue Q’s desire to visit the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In this particular case, we were welcomed by a city near Lake Okabena, which means “home of the heron” in Sioux. If this alone was not a strong enough motivation to encourage us to find a new home in Nobles County, then certainly the growing Hispanic/Latino population would further our interest in the area.
We truly appreciate how this southwest region of the state of Minnesota values traditions - such as King Turkey Day - while encouraging development in bio-sciences and other new green technologies. What’s more, the people of Worthington (and Nobles County) enjoy and appreciate the outdoors, where their greatest natural asset is the 880-acre lake that is surrounded by parks, trails, and recreation areas.

- How does the book’s availability at the Nobles County Library help the Mission of The Blue Q?
We were initially attracted to the city of Worthington, MN, as we learned the other name by which it is known: the City of Brotherhood. This meant that the people are not only open to those of other cultures, but also that they encourage international comradery. In its mission to match this same level of brotherhood and service to others, the Nobles County Library “encourages the love of reading and the joy of learning by providing educational, recreational, and instructional services in a safe, friendly, multicultural, community-centered atmosphere”. The Blue Q is not only safe here, it is also welcomed and appreciated by a group of passionate readers who truly embrace the educational benefits of literacy. Our goal is to further reach the growing population within the region and to help remind all residents of Nobles County that their investments in green energy, along with their welcoming of international cultures, can be the standard by which other parts of the world can achieve if they work progressively towards a balanced environment.
