New Bedford Free Public Library
New Bedford, Massachusetts
The collection of the New Bedford Public Library has over 373,000 items, which now includes The Blue Q in English and in Spanish!
Is it a coincidence that the location of the New Bedford Free Public Library is off the coast of Buzzards Bay (readers will understand the connection), or was it by fate that this library became a new location in which readers can access The Blue Q? We like to think it is a little of both!
New Bedford, MA, is a city with a deep cultural history - the library itself opened in 1852. As it has progressed, the city has evolved to be a spotlight of festivals, activities and tourism, which have made it one of the largest cities along the South Coast region. What’s more, there is a sizeable population of Portuguese and Guatemalan immigrants, who have contributed to the town’s extensive history. After further research, we discovered that New Bedford also plays an important role as the setting of a classic American novel, which further motivated us to discover an opportunity to be included in the collection of the local library.
