Camden County Library System

Voorhees Township, New Jersey

The Blue Q is available and in circulation at the Voorhees Branch Library of the Camden County Library System.

The 282-mile stretch of water that is known as the Delaware River contains as history that includes a key role in the American Revolutionary War. As it travels the distance through five states and 42 counties, it ends its journey at the Atlantic Ocean, which is where The Blue Q’s journey in New Jersey began. Along the river is also the city of brotherly love, directly across of which is the new home of The Blue Q: The World As I See It.

The Camden County Library System accepted the novel into its catalogue in early 2023, where we were fascinated to learn that we are now available among some of the historic works of the famous American poet, Walt Whitman. While the city of Camden (and all of Camden County) boasts its plans for a prosperous (and green) future, we see that The Blue Q also has a chance to thrive in this growing community of readers.

The Blue Q was purposely written to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. This book is intended for young adults, and we primarily recommend it for readers age 12 and up.

- How does the book’s availability at the Camden County Library System help the Mission of The Blue Q?

We were extremely fortunate in that we discovered the Camden County Library System at a time in which the county is investing heavily in their outdoor spaces and recreation areas. Their plan is to enhance the community aesthetically, which will have an impact economically, environmentally, and will improve the health and happiness the people of Camden County. The Mission of The Blue Q not only supports this concept, we also wish to take a more active role. The narrative of the story explains vital importance that clean waterways and green spaces have on the natural balance of the Earth, and we wish to take a fictional account and have it become reality, where we can witness how a community can embrace the novel’s greatest themes and surpass the goals of their own environmental action plan. We applaud such efforts to improve the overall wellbeing of the community, and we hope our small contribution can encourage others to do the same.
