Caldwell, Idaho

The Blue Q is available and in circulation at the Caldwell Public Library!

The city of Caldwell, Idaho, is one in which its roots can be traced as far back as the time in which Native Americans utilized the land as a gathering place that was later forged as part of what we know today as the Oregon Trail. While we were immediately interested in discovering more of Caldwell after we learned of its growing diversity, The Blue Q became immediately intrigued by a lesser known accomplishment of the city. Indian Creek - the well-known body of water that runs through downtown Caldwell - was previously used for waste and disposal by local industries. However, the people took it upon themselves to clean the water, and now it is looked upon as the center of the city’s best attractions.

Caldwell is a particularly rich farming and agricultural community which attracts visitors from around the world. The blend between the historic aspects of the city along with the rejuvenation of its downtown make this one of the most surprisingly fascinating towns we have ever discovered, and we are thrilled to be a part of a community where each season brings forth new reasons to celebrate.

Frequently Asked Questions

- What is the book about?

It is so much more than this, but there is a brief description: The natural balance of the Earth is in danger. The beings responsible for the wellness of our planet were forced to follow the selfish desires of a single, powerful leader, who is once again willing to destroy it all in order to destroy that which was taken from the natural ecosystem.

- For what ages is this book appropriate?

The Blue Q was purposely written to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. This book is intended for young adults, and we primarily recommend it for readers age 12 and up.

You can find The Blue Q: The World As I See It in the Teen/Young Adult collection of the Caldwell Public Library. Availability details are posted in the online collection catalogue.

- Is the Spanish edition of the novel available at the Caldwell Public Library?

Yes! The Spanish edition - El Quetzal Azul: El Mundo Desde El Cielo - can also be checked out of the Caldwell Public Library! Please visit the El Quetzal Azul page for details.

- How does the book’s availability at the Caldwell Public Library System help the Mission of The Blue Q?

There is no greater purpose for The Mission of The Blue Q than to utilize our resources to enrich the lives of others, which fits perfectly with the future goals of the Caldwell Public Library. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that over a third of the population of Caldwell is of Latino/Hispanic origins, and while that is certainly inspiring, it only serves as a statistic about the city unless we actively work on ways in which we can engage with the community members themselves. The Caldwell Public Library is doing everything they know to do to become a library of active participants, where a broader audience is reached and even more community members can discover the benefits of the amplitude of resources available. If The Blue Q can manage to help enrich the lives of others through a unique story that reminds readers to celebrate our diversities (while acting in accordance to what is best for the environment), then our mission is certainly where it needs to be within the community of Caldwell.
